Verify the destination

Minimize permissions and persistence

Ordinary video browsing should not require camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, location, notification, or extension access. Deny surprising prompts. If a legitimate feature later needs access, grant the narrowest permission at that moment.

Avoid downloads unless you have a clear legal and security reason. A downloaded file persists beyond the browser session, can appear in backups or recent-file lists, and may introduce malware risk.

Understand the limits of private mode

Private browsing usually reduces local history, cookies, and form data after the window closes. It does not make activity invisible to websites, advertisers, DNS resolvers, internet providers, workplace monitoring, device administrators, or malware.

Browser synchronization can also expose open tabs or activity to another signed-in device. Review sync, media history, clipboard managers, and notification previews when using a device that others can access.

Consent, legality, and personal boundaries
